Founder Partner, The Phoenix Surgery, Swindon Wiltshire. He trained in medicine at St Thomas’s London and qualified in 1979.
Peter was elected National Chairman in 2009 and Honorary Secretary from 2006 -2009. Under his leadership the Association has increasing membership, national profile and media exposure. He is an active media doctor, seen as the go-to voice of family GPs. He appears regularly on UK television and radio programmes including Good Morning Britain, BBC News, LBC and Radio 5 live, plus the national and local press including Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror Mail on Sunday, and GP trade press.
On the Wiltshire LMC member since 1988 serving as vice chairman and chairman, where he led change from small outfit with part time medical secretary to linking with the Wessex LMCs to form a powerful support group for doctors. GPC member for Wiltshire and Dorset between 2002 and 2005 and Chairman of the last Premises Subcommittee till 2005.
Other interests: Cars – writing about them for the medical comics since 1985. Music – playing the piano to unwind and occasionally a tuba or euphonium to let off wind. Disappearing in a Motorhome to a place with no email…….
